To start a Troy Bilt pressure washer, the operator needs to first connect all the accessories to the unit. Second, the garden hose has to be connected to a water supply. The next step is for the garden hose to be attached to the pressure washer through the water inlet. The water supply can be turned on and the pressure washer’s engine can safely be started.
The steps needed to safely start a Troy Bilt pressure washer are discussed in detail below.
Step 1. Connect the Troy Bilt Pressure Washer Accessories
Before starting a Troy Bilt pressure washer, it is essential to connect all the accessories. If this step is performed after turning on the water supply or the engine, the operator could be severely injured. The power washer should not be pressurized without connecting the high-pressure hose, the gun, and the nozzle first. Make sure that everything is turned off before starting this procedure.
Attach the High-Pressure Washer Hose
Connect one end of the high-pressure hose to the Troy Bilt power washer’s water outlet after the hose has been uncoiled. Most pressure washer hoses are equipped with quick-connect fittings, so this procedure will take less than a minute.
Attach the Pressure Washer Gun
The other end of the pressure washer hose needs to be connected to a pressure washer gun. Make sure to tighten and secure the connection of the gun to avoid injury. This step is essential and attaching the nozzle directly to the pressure washer hose should be completely avoided. If the Troy Bilt pressure washer is supplied with a trigger safety lock, make sure that it is engaged.
Attach the Wand and the Nozzle
While using a Troy Bilt pressure washer for cleaning surfaces situated at a considerable distance, attaching a pressure washer extension wand is highly recommended to ease the job. The wand needs to be attached to the pressure trigger gun by attaching together the two quick-connect fittings.
The pressure washer nozzle can be attached directly to the power washer gun or to the other end of the wand. This can be done by positioning the power washer nozzle in place and clicking it into the other fitting.
Step 2. Connect the Garden Hose to a Water Supply
Make sure that the water source can deliver a water flow above 3.5 GPM. Attach the garden hose to the faucet after checking that the connection is secure to avoid leaks. Turn on the water source. Run water through the garden hose for about 30 seconds to remove any debris present and turn off the water supply.
Step 3. Connect the Garden Hose to the Troy Bilt Pressure Washer
Inspect the inlet screen of the power washer and clean it of debris if needed. Avoid running the Troy Bilt pressure washer if the screen is damaged and replace it if this is the case. Attach the garden hose to the water inlet of the unit.
Step 4. Turn the Water Supply On
Avoid running the power washer without turning on the water source, as the pressure washer pump could be permanently damaged by this action. Check that the Troy Bilt power washer is in a level position. Turn on the water supply. Press the trigger gun and let the water run through the system for about 30 seconds to get the air out and to get rid of eventual impurities.
Step 5. Start the Troy Bilt Pressure Washer’s Engine
Before proceeding with this step, check the engine’s oil levels and make sure that fuel has been added to the tank if a gas pressure washer is used. Putting safety goggles on is highly recommended before turning on the pressure washer engine.
The position of the operator while starting the Troy Bilt pressure washer needs to be as far away from the unit as possible. The rapid retraction of the engine starter cord can cause injuries. Make sure to read the instruction manual of the engine to avoid getting harmed.
